About the movie

Delphine and Solange are sisters, living in the small coastal town of Rochefort. One teaches dancing, the other teaches the piano. When they leave their hometown in search of love, they are hired as carnival singers and suddenly closer to their aim than they might have expected. But there is no telling how long happiness will last.
Jacques Demy’s eclectic sources of inspiration turn his movies into unique gems, somewhere in-between classical Hollywood Musicals and the French New Wave, The Young Girls of Rochefort was nominated for an Academy Award in the category Best Musical Picture Score.
