Ugly, Dirty and Bad

About the movie

In a cardboard shantytown in the run-down parts of Rome lives four generations of a family in a crowded shack. All of them, being fed-up with their unbearable existence, makes their own plans to get rid of each other. Plotting to murder through poisoned dinners, arson – you name it! – the family also engages in strange sexual acts, incorporating both incest, drugs and adultery.
This grotesque but hilarious movie by Ettore Scola also provides deep insights and realistic portraits of a peculiar family in social degradation. It was embraced by the jury at Cannes Film Festival, who nominated it for the Golden Palm and awarded Scola with the prize for Best Director.
