About the movie

Frankie, a teenage boy from Brooklyn, spend all his summer days hanging out with his friends and getting high on his sick father’s pain medication. While doing his best to escape from his bleak home situation he is also on the run from himself. He has a tentative relationship with Simone but is continuously drawn to chat rooms online where he meets and hook up with older men. Frankie is on the journey to manhood and must find balance in his life.
Writer and director Eliza Hittman delivers a fresh and sensitive coming of age film about a young boy and his journey of sexual self-discovery while struggling with his life at home. Hittman is joined by award winning cinematographer Hélène Louvart (“Pina”, nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature) in visualizing the tense atmosphere around Frankie in the grimy Brooklyn backdrop. Official selection at Sundance Film Festival 2017.
“Dark, dreamy and entirely engrossing” – The Hollywood Reporter
“A stunning note of dreamy romance and possibility” – The Guardian (++++)
“Dickinson’s tough exterior belies a tender side that makes his performance one of the most striking breakouts in ages” – Indie Wire
