About the movie

Shortly after witnessing a brutal beating, 11-year old Skunk sees her home, neighbourhood, and school become treacherous environments, where the happy certainties of childhood give way to danger; her innocence is rapidly worn away and a harsh world fills her future, over which she has no control. When Skunk finally seeks solace in an unspoken friendship with sweet, damaged Rick, she’s is faced with the greatest choice of all.
Actor turned theatre director Rufus Norris (Festen, Doctor Dee) makes his film debut with Broken, premiered at Critics’ Week in Cannes. It is a contemporary London-set drama, adapted from a novel by Daniel Clay, starring Tim Roth (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, The Incredible Hulk), Cillian Murphy (Inception, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight), Bill Milner (Son of Rambow, X-Men: First Class) and newcomer Eloise Laurence as Skunk.
