Three brothers struggle through their childhood, growing up with the volatile love of their parents. While two of the brothers grow into versions of their unpredictable father, the youngest brother Jonah embraces an imagined world on his own.
Based on the celebrated Justin Torres novel with the same name, We the Animals is a heartening coming-of-age story propelled by the debut performances from its astounding young cast. Critically appraised for its take on brotherhood and working-class families, director Jeremiah Zagar was also awarded for his directorial achievements at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, receiving the NEXT Innovator Award.
