Documentary
In 1979, James Baldwin wrote a letter to his agent describing his final book, Remember This House. Tragically, Baldwin was not able to complete the book before his death, and the unfinished script was entrusted to director Raoul Peck by the writer’s estate. From this script, exclusively built around Baldwin’s own words, I Am Not Your Negro delves into the depth of what it means to be Black in America.
Narrated by Academy Award-nominee Samuel L. Jackson, I Am Not Your Negro takes on a unique perspective on blackness and racism in America. I Am Not Your Negro premiered at Toronto International Film Festival where it won the People’s Choice Award.
