Documentary, Music dox
A house filled with old vinyl records, perched on the slopes above Kingston, Jamaica. In the yard, the legendary voices of Reggae can be found. Ken Boothe, Winston McAnuff, Kiddus I, and Cedric Myton, the famous lead of the Congos, to name just a few. They’ve sung with Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Jimmy Cliff in the back rooms of the ghettos. They’ve reunited to revisit the roots of Jamaican music together with younger musicians, recording an album capturing the soul of Jamaica.
Behind the scenes is director Peter Webber (Girl with a Pearl Earring, Emperor, Hannibal Rising), tracking the recording, the singers’ everyday life as well as the upcoming international tour. The human adventure of a renaissance and a visceral voyage to planet reggae!
