What begins as a documentary about the final tour of a dying magician, “The Amazing Johnathan”, turns into a bizarre and unexpected journey where the filmmaker must unravel what about the magician is true and what is illusion.
Filmmaker Benjamin Berman follows the incredible illusionist on tour, but soon begins to question his subject’s motives and unravels unforeseen tricks he’s been set up with by the magician. The documentary was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival 2019 and has amazed and entertained audiences and critics since its premiere at the film festival.
