About the movie

A single mother, plagued by the violent death of her husband, battles with her son's fear of a monster lurking in the house, but soon discovers a sinister presence all around her.
The Babadook is a psychological thriller in the tradition of Polanski’s classic domestic horrors. Using her award winning short horror Monster as a springboard, writer/director Jennifer Kent has developed the script at the Binger Lab in Amsterdam with assistance from Screen NSW and Screen Australia. Official selection at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and four time winner at the Gérardmer Fantastic Film Festival 2014.
“One of the strongest, most effective horror films of recent years” – Empire Magazine
“A weird, unsettling and, above all, truly great horror movie” – Sunday Times
“May Be the Scariest Film of the Year” – The Hollywood Reporter
