The Brink is a fly-on-the-wall documentary chronicling former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon’s mission to spread extreme nationalism globally. Covering Brannon’s departure from the White House in 2017, to the 2018 mid-term elections in the US, The Brink follows his efforts to mobilize and unify far-right parties to spread anti-immigration messages, without the constraints of an official post.
Director Alison Klayman was given uncommon access to her subject, making The Brink a revealing portrait about Bannan’s work towards spreading extreme nationalism globally. Klayman has been critically acclaimed for her previous work with Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry (2012), The 100 Years Show (2015) and Take Your Pills (2018). The Brink premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and was received with great response for its take on the global impact of Steve Bannan’s philosophies.
