A Matter of Time tells the inspiring story of Katheryn Calder who took on the role as her ALS-diagnosed mother’s full-time caregiver and at the same time recorded her first solo album. Meaning she had to cancel the upcoming tour with her band The New Pornographers. Her main aspiration was to finish the album in time for her mother to hear it, one last gift to her biggest fan. We get to follow Katheryn’s moving story about her mother’s death, the finished album and how she continued fighting for ALS awareness even after her mother’s passing.
The main subject of Casey Cohen’s documentary is singer- keyboard- and guitar player Kathryn Calder from Canadian indie rock band The New Pornographers and her moving struggle in life, being torn between the band’s newly risen fame and her dying mother. Part concert film, archival footage, beautiful animations and intimate interviews, the film is a true testimony of Katheryn’s bravery and compassion. Nominated for ‘Best Documentary Film’ at Santa Barbara International Film Festival 2016.
