Biopic, Drama
In Rome in the 70s, film director Pier Paolo Pasolini (Willem Dafoe) has recently finished the making of his latest film, Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom. The film shocked critics as well as the audience, resulting in Pasolini being regarded as an intellectual enemy of the public as well as the politics both for his homosexuality, and his impulsive and scandalous way of displaying his reality through his movies. Wanting to start his new project, he casts the young actor Ninetto Davoli, with whom he also had been romantically involved when Davoli was in his early teens. However, both his mother and his sister tries to stop the movie from being made, due to the way he is disdained by the society.
Based on the life of award winning, renowned and critically acclaimed director Pier Paolo Pasolini, this feature biopic explores the depth of its protagonist’s mind. Featuring Academy Award Nominee Willem Dafoe (Platoon, Shadow of the Vampire) in its title role, and Ninetto Davoli playing famous actor Eduardo De Filippo, the movie brings great talent as well as authenticity to its subject. Director Abel Ferrara (Mary, New Rose Hotel) has received awards at Venice Film Festival for no less than three of his previous films.
