We Intend to Cause Havoc

About the movie

Emmanuel “Jagari” Chanda was the lead singer of the most popular Zambian rock band of the 1970’s, WITCH, the acronym for We Intend To Cause Havoc. Jagari, who was known as Africa’s Mick Jagger, riled up crowds through his bold but entertaining stage performances, stage diving from balconies, and dancing manically. Today, Jagari is in his 60’s and spends his time mining gemstones in Zambia, hoping to strike it rich. For three decades, his music has just been a nostalgic memory, but now, Jagari strives to take off with his music once again.
The music of WITCH is a fusion influenced from the Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath and James Brown, mixed with traditional African rhythms, and is already spreading to a new generation. In 2017, the band toured in Europe for the first time, making it a part of the long-awaited documentary. We Intend To Cause Havoc will reacquaint the world with the Zamrock sounds of Jagari, and the WITCH-craft that nearly disappeared forever.
