With Britain deeply divided over immigration, The Clash and other top punk bands created Britain's biggest-ever civil rights movement, Rock Against Racism (RAR). RAR was formed in 1976 primarily as a reaction to the racist remarks of ‘rock’s biggest colonialist’, the legendary blues guitarist Eric Clapton.
White Riot blends fresh interviews with archive footage to recreate a hostile environment of anti-immigrant hysteria and National Front marches. The film premiered at London Film Festival and showed at Berlin Film Festival.
