Alexander Skarsgård to Stockholm with PILLION and Julia Ducournau with ALPHA – 11 strong NonStop premieres at SFF

11 premieres, centerpiece & closing film, Skarsgård, Ducournau & Schilinski – here are Nonstop’s contributions to the 2025 Stockholm Film Festival:

After an unforgettable Cannes premiere, Alexander Skarsgård returns home to the Stockholm Film Festival with the queer, leather-clad romcom PILLION. Two other Cannes darlings heading to Stockholm are Julia Ducournau – the first female Palme d’Or winner in history – whose new film ALPHA screens in the competition section, and Mascha Schilinski with SOUND OF FALLING, Germany’s official Oscar submission for this year. The film has been featured on numerous critics’ lists of the year’s best and serves as a fitting black diamond in the German focus Stockholm Film Festival is highlighting this year – and it, too, competes in the festival’s main competition.

Other highlights in the festival program include Park Chan-wook’s masterpiece NO OTHER CHOICE, serving as the festival’s centerpiece film, and Lynne Ramsay’s DIE MY LOVE, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson, as the closing film. Audiences will also finally have the chance to see Mary Bronstein’s IF I HAD LEGS I’D KICK YOU, featuring a brilliant Rose Byrne as a mother on the verge of collapse, alongside Ira Sachs’ delightful 1970s New York portrait PETER HUJAR’S DAY and documentary master Raoul Peck’s chillingly timely deep dive into how lies become truth in ORWELL 2+2=5.

Two additional documentary highlights are the Sundance favorite ANDRE IS AN IDIOT – a feel-good documentary about receiving a terminal diagnosis – and THE ZODIAC KILLER PROJECT, where a failed film project instead turns into a dissection of the controversial yet ever-popular true crime genre.

It has also been previously announced that the Swedish sci-fi sensation EGGHEAD REPUBLIC – directed by the Aniara duo Pella Kågerman and Hugo Lilja – will have its European premiere at the Stockholm Film Festival, where this radioactive centaur of a film will compete for the Bronze Horse.
